Infection?: You are self medicating.. you do not even know if you have an infection. Even if you do, antibiotics alone will not solve your problem... you need to have a dentist take a look at that problematic tooth. Forget about the expired meds and make an appointment for treatment.

Tooth ache: The best thing for you to so is see a dentist and get your tooth treated. Taking any antibiotic without a proper diagnosis and perscription is dangerous and an expired drug will increase your chance of problems.

See a dentist: Expired amoxicillin is not recommended due to loss of potency that can be a major health problem, especially when treating an infection with an antibiotic. Take over the counter painkillers and call a dentist for an appointment.

Bad idea: First, no one should ever use medications that have expired. They may be ineffective or worse (I once had a patient who had to go to the ER of a hospital for taking expired pain medication). Secondly, antibiotics will not help in any way for most causes of toothaches & taking antibiotics unnecessarily or improperly may result in super-infections. See a dentist asap for a proper diagnosis\treatment
