A member asked:

Can hypochondria cause actual symptoms specific to the disease you worry about? you have 1 symptom, start to worry and other symptoms start to happen

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes. The body and: brain are connected and the connection is a two-way street. Either can influence the other. When the mind has its focus on something in the body, the body begins to reflect the mental process, including creating the very symptoms you worry about. Re-assure yourself that you are physically OK and then start practicing ways to relax--mindfulness, meditation, etc.
