Acid: The hiatal hernia pre-disposes you to have acid reflux. Over time, the acid exposure can erode lining of lower esophagus. It may never get "high" enough for you to feel symptoms, but good to know it's there and please follow it with surgeon or GI Doc.

GERD: Hi, sometimes Acid reflux if symptomatic especially if you don't have a lot of triggers, Hiatal hernia increases the risk of acid reflux.
