Yes...: ...it can.It's called 'asbestosis'if it's gotten to the point of symptoms and x-ray findings.A biopsy clinches the diagnosis but is not usually necessary if there has been a significant exposure (like at work-shipbuilding insulation or construction-over several months). It can also cause lung cancer so this needs to be evaluated by a doctor, probably a pulmonologist,who'll do function studies,etc
