STI prevention: Many factors involved in this controversial decision...The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that it should be offered, but does not say that circumcision is necessarily recommended. In areas with high rates of sexually transmitted disease, it can prevent infection rates and decrease the risk of UTI, but the jury is out w/ respect to sexual function so it's up to the parents.
