New guidelines: Sounds like you're doing all the right things with a healthy diet and staying at a healthy weight. New guidelines were released last year, where we are no longer trying to reach a specific target number but rather treating patients who have certain risk factors. Talk to your doctor about these risk factors.

Cholesterol: Cholesterol goals differ depending on your risk factors. If you have coronary artery disease or other high risk co-morbidities like diabetes and hypertension, goals become increasingly more strict. Other factors include age and family history of heart disease. Overall, your numbers look pretty good. Other risk factors may play a part in your doctor's decision. Congrats on the weight loss!

You are right but: LDL of 100 or less has been correlated with a much lower total cardiovacular risk- your numbers are already vey good: unforynately, people can still have a cardiac event with "good numbers"- keep up the good work- you are looking good!

Lipid concerns: Lipid concerns are authentic. LDL is a highly reactive form of lipoprotein and it reacts to blood vessel walls easily, congealing and crystallizing. HDL can limit this. Triglycerides are also reactive. Your profile is excellent but it can be better. Getting LDL below 130 has been a traditional goal. Getting it below 100 is the goal for a person with higher risk factors. Continue being diligent.
