Exercise and MD: You should consult your doctor for the advisablity of going on a statin, as you will need to be monitored. Also seek your doctor's clearance for engaging in increasingly vigorous exercise for at least 30 minutes a day.

Depends on if: Your have CAD & how much which can be determined on a coronary calcium screening ct.

Depends: Niacin is not first line and recently has received "thumbs down" in reports. If your doctor feels that he should be on something a statin is the way to go. You might consider a coronary calcium cat scan, if you can afford it if your insurance will not cover it.
