A member asked:

I have a recurring sharp shooting pain on the back of my left hand just above my index finger. what could that be dr.?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sharp shooting pain: This area on the back of your hand contains the tendon to extend your wrist, an area of skin supplied by the radial nerve, and the joint that connects your finger to your hand. You could have an injury to the joint or the tendon, causing a pain in that area, or you could have irritation of the radial nerve. The last of these should also cause tingling or numbness in that area.
