No: It's possible to have a normal ACE level and still have sarcoidosis. Just like it's possible to have an elevated ACE level and not have sarcoidosis. Sarcoidosis is diagnosis made based on a clinical history, exam, imaging and often biopsy results. Hope this helps.

No, sorry.: If your symptoms and xrays are consistent with the diagnosis (family history esp.) , then you pulmonologist will want to do bronchoscopy to find more information such as histology of a biopsy speciment under the microscope. However, you have a better chance of not having it or another unpleasant illness with a negative result. Take care. http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/733151

Not definitively: This does not completely rule out sarcoidosis. Work up includes thorough evaluation med history, exam and several tests may be indicated depending on other symptoms. Lesions of sarcoidosis often secrete the ACE enzyme. Not always high. You listed Chest XR as completed. Often ordered. More tests on lungs if needed. Possible biopsy of any lesions such as the rash you listed, if indicated

Absolutely: Not! There is not one single test diagnostic for sarcoidosis. It is a complicated diagnosis. Usually but not always the ACE level is elevated.
