The marker is elevated in a number of conditions associated with lymphocyte activation, including Sarcoidosis. The test should be evaluated along with your history and examination. The level usually decreases in response to steroid treatment. Please see your physician to rule out the other causes.

Agree with Dr. D. If MM is a concern, you doctor can get a serum protein electrophoresis test done that usually settles the matter. A urine test may also be needed if there is any concern. Wish you good health!
