Rabies coverage: Once you complete the primary series for rabies, you are considered protected for 2 years. Those who work closely with animals that may be infected will sometimes have tests run at that point to see if a booster is needed.

Rabies vaccine: Am assuming you are referring to rabies vaccine, either Human diploid cell vaccine or Purified chick embryo cell vaccine. For post-exposure vaccination it is given in 4 shots at 0, 3, 7 and 14 days. There was previously a 5th dose recommended at 28 days but is no longer felt to be necessary. The vaccine is apparently highly effective and approaches 99-100%. Good luck.
