What would a pediatric (6yo) 'stress test' look like? what would the cardiologist have him do?

CARDIAC PROBLEM: The first DX tool a cardiologist do is ekg, 2d echo and cardiac catheterization fo diagnostic purposes including cardiac scan. They seldom do stress thallium among kids. A cardiologist can explain more about this.

Walk or bike: Depending on the child's abilities, either type can be performed. Cycling on a stationary bike is often simpler than walking on a treadmill. During the test the workload is gradually increased and the heart rate and blood pressure are monitored.

Peds Stress test: Typically a 6 year old can pedal a stationary bike. The other option is running on a treadmill which can be too tricky for a 6 year old. Exercising adequately is the first step. Usually around 10 mins max. During this process the cardiologist will watch the ekg monitor and also see how the blood pressure and oxygen level in the blood respond to the stress.

Exercise and monitor: This is a test where heart and sometimes lung responses to exercise are monitored. It is performed using a treadmill or bicycle. It is helpful in identifying reasons for patient symptoms.
