Control of: Constipation is essential in controlling hemorrhoids. Constipation will improve with increased fluids, excercise, high fiber in diet and if indicated stool softners or laxatives.

Hydrate/fiber: It is likely constipation preceded the hemorrhoids as these generally become a problem when a patients stools become hard, infrequent and require straining to evacuate. These are all signs of degrees of constipation. Improving hydration,fruits and vegetables in the diet and a fiber supplement (such as Metamucil) can definitely improve things.
