Are there any complications from repeat kidney stones ? my husband has had two in 6 months .he is only 45 years old.

A stone forms from some abnormal metabolism.: The better question to ask is why is he having kidney stones. If he has a metabolic problem with calcium he may form stones. If he has a high uric acid he may form stones. If he has a urinary infection or prosthetic enlargement may tend to form stones. It sounds like he needs a little more evaluation of the etiology of the stones

Pain: If one of them was analyzed then a stone metabolic workup which includes a number of urine and blood chemical tests can be done to arrive at a preventive plan which would include special diet &/or medication depending on result. Answering your question: stones that pass or are removed if causing obstruction will not cause long term complications,but the pain is bad enough.Good luck to your husband
