No, not necessarily.: Cysts that are greater than 6 cm are often surgically removed. Otherwise, they are usually monitored unless there are unusual features. Birth control pills can certainly help suppress new ones, but it is your choice, if you do not want to take it and risk another pregnancy so soon after giving birth. With severe pain or if larger on monitoring ultrasound after 6-8 weeks, surgery is possible.
