Treatment needed: When tendons are overworked they become inflamed. The throbbing is an indication of such inflammation. When tendons are inflamed they can be vulnerable to rupture, which is a significant injury that would require surgery. This definitely needs to be rested and immobilized until healed. It would probably be a good idea to have it looked at.
