Wound infection: This is quite variable: it can be fairly immediate to many weeks. Your question is complicated by the lack of strict adherence or even a consensus for what constitutes an infection. We have bacteria all over our body; and certainly there is bacteria in wounds. But whether colonization or actual infection is involved can be quite variable from one clinician to the next.
