Base of neck: The 7th cervical vertebra (C7) in the neck is the lowest one of the seven that belong to the neck (cervical spine). It joins the 1st thoracic (T1) vertebra --the first or top vertebra composing the thoracic spine. It is where the inner curve of your neck moves out to join the top of your chest (thorax). The first set of ribs is attached to T1.
