Ask your surgeon: "one should not push her/his luck too much...." you've gotta be very careful before you are back to your routine lifting etc. When you can start your activity will depend on how severe the fracture is, how did you get the fracture, how heavy is the lifting-etc. Discuss with your surgeon when you can start lifting again. You are lucky you did not have quadriplegia- so dont push your luck too much.
