Several months: I am assuming this happened as a result of trauma. The most important thing is to rule out cord compromise by MRI or CT scan which would require immediate surgery. If the spinal cord is intact then an appropriate Cervical Collar should be prescribed by the Ortho spine or Neuro surgeon. This is to avoid possible further trauma or displacement of vertebra. If no hx of osteoporosis, 3-4 m to heal
