Possibly: If you expect you have had an exposure to someone with HIV either through unprotected intercourse or needle stick (either sharing or occupational stick), it may be wise to get testing. Know that if tested too early after exposure a negative test may be false as it typically takes 4-6 weeks to develope the antibodies that are detected in the standard lab test.
