Is it really strep?: If you've got the firm diagnosis of strep throat by testing and you are on antibiotics already then, the pain will begin to subside as the infection is controlled. Speak with your doctor about options for pain and swelling. Good hydration (lots of water and other good liquids) is very key to getting things back to normal....even though I know it hurts to swallow. Good luck.

Pain relievers: The pain may be relieved with pain relievers like Ibuprofen or Naproxen but the main treatment for strep throat is an Antibiotic. I hope you have been prescribed one.
