Tonsillitis: The pus will disappear after about 5 days. You want to make sure that you do not have an abscess there. If swelling and pain persist, then be examined. Meanwhile, gargle with salt water for at least 30 seconds every 3 hours while awake. This will remove pus.

Tonsillitis: All the symptoms of acute pharyngitis & tonsillitis should go way after two weeks of appropriate antibiotics. Persistent of pus or symptoms are the signs of treatment failure due to inappropriate antibiotic, resistant organism or abscess formation where antibiotic can't penetrate. However pus like white spot can be fungal oral thrush (post antibiotic). Either way talk to your DOC for another eval.
