A member asked:

What is the newest injection for basal joint arthritis? i have had cortisone for several years but i have it in both thumbs and the pain is bad.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Same class: steroids: No one particular corticosteroid injection stands out as best, and there are many. They all work similarly. Remember that ice, splints, and medications, including steroid injections, just decrease inflammation temporarily. Rehabilitation should be an important part of your treatment, as well as an anti-inflammatory diet. Read Neal Barnard, MD, "Foods That Fight Pain" for details.
