A member asked:

Could receiving a cortisone shot in my thumb joint for trigger thumb cause me to get a yeast infection?

Cortisone shot: The answer is no. While taking cortisone orally (e.g., prednisone) could indeed predispose to a yeast infection, injecting it into a single joint affects only that joint. There will be no systemic side effects including yeast infections.

Unlikely, but: Unlikely, unless it was decadron/dexamethasone, which is water soluble, as opposed to other depot corticosteroids. Though injected into a joint, Decadron immediately passes into the blood.
