I do not know the: exact distance that urushiol has been documented to travel when it is being burned. However, depending on wind conditions - my guess is that it may travel some distance. Please see http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/plants/ . That is one reason that firefighters can be at significant danger. If you see the smoke traveling a distance - that would be a good sign that urushiol is being transmitted.
