A member asked:

Do i need a order? does one need an order for labs, such as a cbc? not for any reason other than thinking it would be neat to track 4 times a year.

See a doctor: You should see a doctor who can order tests as needed. It is unwise to order and track your blood four times a year because you would need a medical education to interpret and the laboratory will require a doctors order any way.

Yes: If you are otherwise healthy and does not take medicine; if you have healthy life style and eat balanced food; if you had normal CBC once this year and not have recurrent infection, bleeding problem, you DO NOT NEED to check CBC 4/year. If you dot not know the result and want to check, can go to blood bank where you will get CBC, if Acceptable level and meet other criteria, will be able to donate

No: You need a licensed doctor /physician assistant to order or nurse practitioner to order any medical tests. In addition if you are healthy there is no need for testing. And it is costly
