See below.: A complete blood count shows the types of white blood cells present,which can tell whether an infection is bacterial or viral; it also includes a measure of your hemoglobin and hematocrit, which is an indirect measure of anemia, and platelet count. A blood culture is when the blood is actually put in a special culture plate and grown in an incubator. This will tell what specific bacteria is there.
