Follow up: If you are getting worse you should go back in to the doctor. Sometimes the bacteria are resistant to the antibiotic and you need to change to another one.

Need follow up: You should stop the antibiotic, after consulting with your prescribing physician of course, and get a urine collection for culture 48 hours afterwards. The antibiotic can then be tailored to the specific bacterium involved.
