Fungus: Nails that are discolored, brown and thickened occur due to nail fungus. A coated tongue can occur for several reasons: vitamin deficiencies are a common cause of a beefy red and sore tongue. Yeast in the mouth can coat the tongue and cause soreness. Some chronic medications can make a person susceptible to yeast infections.

Fungus, candida: the problem with you toenails sound like fungus, which is treatable with oral medication over 1-2 months. The coating in your mouth sounds like Candida, a yeast that is also treated with an oral medication for 2-4 weeks. If you have a problem with your immune system, these problems can be related. I suggest you see a doctor, have a good exam and treat what might be wrong with your body.
