Hand-foot-and-mouth disease or just a simple oral ulcer/mouth sore? any serious worry here?

No serious worries.: Cannot tell from your question which it is...Just that you have mouth sores. Hand foot mouth is caused by coxsackie virus and there are often associated blisters or ulcers in the hands and feet or groin area. Simple mouth ulcers are apthous ulcers. Tea tree oil applied directly with a q tip (in adults not kds as it stings) can help them heal faster.

Usually Not: The most common rapid-onset mouth sores are aphthous ulcers (canker sores) and herpetic lesions (cold sores) which are usually self limiting and heal in 7-10 days. Laser tx can shorten duration for both and anti-herpetic medications exist. Hf&m is caused by the coxsackie virus and is very contagious in the early stages and usually found in children.
