Too much estrogen: When you produce more estrogen than can be counteracted by the progesterone then the lining of your uterus (endometrium) can build up. This needs to be biopsied because there can be cancer cells in this built up tissue.

Many Reasons: The endometrium is the lining of the uterus, and the lining is referred to as the endometrial stripe. Anything over 3-4mm is considered outside of the normal range. The obvious worry is endometrial cancer. But other things can cause this like certain medications and endometrial hyperplasia, which describes an abnormal and excessive overgrowth of cells in the inner lining. It needs to be monitored.
