Blood pressure: Blood pressures rise and fall. The heart is not static. It is dynamic. There is no disease in this one blood pressure reading and absolutely no reason to go to the ER.

Many possibilities: Cory, there are many reasons your BP can go up. First of all, just being in the ER makes you likely to have a high BP reading. People only go to the ER if they are sick, scared, or both. Either can raise blood pressure. So can the body's stress response. That being said, a single BP reading is not worrisome. Elevated BP over years is what leads to heart attack and stroke. Follow up is essential!
