27 with chest pounding ( almost 24/7). ekg's, x-ray, blood, stress test, and ultrasound were fine. the chest pounding comes on mostly at night and rest w/ no pain. hr is normal. negative for all conditions expect gerd. no anxiety. what is causing it?

Heart pounding: A forceful heart beat without an abnormality of heart rhythm or heart pathology may be seen with high blood pressure, but if there is no elevation of blood pressure at night when you're having symptoms, the most likely problem is a form of anxiety or a strong focussing on your heart beat especially when you're at rest. Healthy heart: The technical definition of palpitations is "awareness of ones own heartbeat" 20 somethings often have a newfound awareness of the dynamics of their body's physiology & no real history of significant illness. A rule of thumb at that age: If you are not sure if something hurts, it doesn't.. Coffee, alcohol, full stomach, marijuana, anxiety, good athletic condition will all cause a pounding heart.
