Chest Cough - cause?: So, without a list of other associated signs & symptoms, I could not safely or professionally diagnose pneumonia in a such a setting. Ur q says ur a smoker, but profile says non-smoker. smokers may develop cough over time, as well as, ironically, brief exacerbation of cough when they try to quit or cut back smoking. Don't be discouraged! Quitting is by far the healthiest thing you can do! D/w pcp.

Pneumonia is: an infectious disease that has more symptoms than just a cough and is not typically painful except for the muscular contraction of the chest wall when you cough. How about giving up smoking?
