MRSA: Use the ointment your doctor probably gave you to put just inside the opening of your nose. Has your husband been cultured, and if so, was he positive or negative? If he was positive, then no worries. If negative, then use your medicine and ask your doctor.

It means you should: put bactroban (mupirocin) up your nostrils to prevent skin infection with MRSA. You can kiss your husband. If you end up getting MRSA on your skin then you could spread it to your husband. Colonization of staph in your nostrils does not mean you have an infection, it means you are at higher risk for it, which is reduced by using prescription bactroban (mupirocin)
