You will probably: need to change into a hospital gown. Ultrasound requires the use of gel on the skin, and you don't want that getting all over your clothes.Also,your clothing may hinder the technologist from being able to freely evaluate your abdomen. Only the area being scanned should be exposed.If the pelvic is transvaginal(it may not be), they will use a gel covered cylindrical probe inserted into the vagina.

Similar to pelvic ex: You should expect it to be similar to a pelvic exam. You will undress from the waist down, but should have a gown, and have a sheet/drape to cover yourself with. They will have you drink a lot of water to make a full bladder, then will have you lie down and will squirt a gel on your belly, then use something to rub over your abdomen and something else inserted into your vagina. Be brave.
