Ask an ENT: Unilateral hearing loss that is due to nerve damage can certainly be caused by a tumor; particularly acoustic neuroma. MRI is the study of choice. However, there may be other factors that indicate a different cause for the hearing loss. This is a good question to ask an ENT (otolaryngologist).
