A member asked:

Why is it that there are still women dying during childbirth in africa?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Infections/Bleeding: Most african women are being treated by midwives with various levels of skill and healthcare is few if any professional backups which include hospitals, ob's and most importantly antibiotics for post partum fevers, and a lack of adequate blood product replacement in the event of hemorrhage. Once a too big baby for the mom(cpd) is stuck in the pelvis few options are available to do c/s's rurally.
