Cysteine: Cysteine is a semi essential amino acid. Our body can synthesize it if sufficient methionine is consumed. It is contained in high protein foods, such as poultry, eggs, dairy, pork, and grains too. It is a precursor to glutathione in our livers, an essential antioxidant. It also participates in protein synthesis in tissue repair. It is a crucial amino acid from these two perspectives.
