A member asked:

I have heard that taking too much niacin is bad and that you should take about 14 mg a day, but every niacin supplement i have seen says 500 mg?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bad: The usual dose is 1000 to 2000 mg daily. 14 mg would be a homeopathic dose. The American Heart Association doesn't recommend the use of Niacin for the prevention of heart disease unless there is a clear indication AND the person is statin intolerant.
