Would like to know if it's necessary to fill a 6 year old's cavity right away?

The longer you wait,: .. the deeper it gets. A simple filling can become a more complex and expensive set of procedures. Severe decay can result in the loss of the tooth and necessitate a space maintainer. Don't delay.

See a pedodontist: Dental and gum disease do not go away on their own. Cavities that reach the tooth's pulp can require a root canal, which is a far more involved procedure than a mere filling. It's really best to find a pedodontist you trust, and let him make the decision. The sooner the better!
