A member asked:

Can you tell me if it's dangerous when your asthma gets so bad that your chest hurts really bad?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually not: Chest discomfort may occur with asthma especially during a bad asthma attack. Treating the the asthma usually resolves the chest discomfort. If you have persistent pain especially with productive cough, fever, etc. you may need treatment for bronchitis or pneumonia. Also, you should get a check up for other causes of chest pain if it is happening at times when you don't have an asthma attack.
