GERD vs. anxiety: Globus or a lump in the throat feeling is cause by muscle tightness at the entrance to the esophagus. It can be due to LPR ( high gastric reflux of acid) or anxiety. This is a symptom, not a disease, and as such will not disappear until the cause is found and treated. First see a GI specialist to rule out GERD.

Saw ENT who insisted my 2+month globus sensation problem is due to acid. I have GERD history but NOT currently having any acid issue. Is that strange?
