Is it true that only 4 percent of babies are born on their due date?

Little higher: It actually used to be closer to 10%, but with more scheduled inductions and C-sections at around 39 weeks, the actual number has dropped below that 10%. I doubt it has dropped as low as 4% though. I certainly have not seen a number that low yet, but I'm sure it's headed that way.

Less than 5%: The due date is somewhat arbitrary. Most healthy babies are born between 37 and 42 weeks, so 40 weeks was selected as the "estimated day of confinement" or EDC, but there's nothing magical about that date. If it happens then, it happens then.
