Sctotal swelling: after hernia surgery can sometimes take up to 3 months to fully resolve after hernia surgery, especially if the hernia was larger in size or if a lot of scar tissue from the hernia was encountered. Follow your surgeon's instructions.

Go with him to c doc: If you are the support person and you are concerned about how your loved on is doing after surgery, then go with him to the next appointment to you can ask and hear what the surgery team has to say. Be well. If fever, vomiting, redness, drainage develop then call in.
