Most likely: Your husband's testis is hopefully just inflamed from the mesh used. However to be safe you should have him see his doctor.

Ice and non steroidal anti-inflammatory meds (ibuprofen, naproxy, etc.) may help.

Could be: any number of things such as hematoma, orchitis, or just plain post operative swelling. You need to show it to your surgeon.
