Healing socket: The appearance of a healing socket varies greatly. You did not mention how long ago the tooth was extracted, and whether the pain/soreness is getting better, worse or the same? It doesn't sound like there is anything to be concerned about. However, we can't determine this over the internet, so contact your own dentist for your peace of mind.
