A member asked:

Is there a medication that can be injected into the eye to dissolve macular pucker instead of surgery.

Yes: Consult with your retinal specialist to discuss Jetrea™ (Ocriplasmin) which has been approved for vitreo macular adhesion(VMA) or similar vitreo macular traction syndrome(VMT). Only your specialist would be able to tell you if your epiretinal membrane is needing treatment and which treatment will yield the best results. Good luck.

Nothing yet: Macular pucker is a membranous condensation atop the macula area of the retina on the face of the overlying vitreous. There is no known medication that will dissolve this either taken by mouth or injected. Current treatment is surgical peeling off the membrane which has a reasonable chance of success. This should be done if the condition is progressing or very disturbing to the vision.
