Not optic neuritis: Optic neuritis causes problems with vision and can cause pain but usually develops slowly over period of hours to days . It is hard to know what that could have been but could have been acute glaucoma or an unusual headache such as paroxysmal hemicrania. If if recurs or you have any visual symptoms you should see a doctor.
